Carmen was born and raised in Palo Alto, California and is currently an NYC-based actress. She was raised in a bilingual household and spent her childhood between Palo Alto and Mexico City. She recently graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts where she studied at the Meisner Studio, the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute, and the Berlin Stanislavsky, Brecht, and Beyond program. During her time in school, she played Helena in Scenes and Revelations, Anna in Ivanov, and Five in After Life. She’s a returning actress at Silicon Valley Shakespeare, starring in productions such as The White Snake and Measure for Measure and making guest appearances on episodes of their ShakesPod Podscast (“Flipping the Script”). She has acted in short films with her peers and loves assisting them in casting and editing their scripts. Carmen also has dramaturgical experience and has adapted Ted Chiang’s short story “Anxiety is the Dizziness of Freedom” with director Mei Ann Teo.

Carmen dreams of working closely with directors and playwrights to originate new roles, and hopes to have her own theater collective in the future. She believes in the magic of theater and its powerful effect in advocacy and activism.
